@ellesaurus @hildabast again, the research shows that it's rarely used for that (and much more frequently used for beneficial actions). And as for the dunking, it seems like the kind of thing that can be dealt with through opt-in mechanisms and cultural norms.

The point is that the functionality of QT is to create a second, separate conversation.
As is reliably pointed out, you can already do that with a screenshot, so why this insistance that Mastodon implement the feature?
@mmasnick @tob @ellesaurus@mastodon.lol @hildabast I really dislike the idea of screenshots instead of QTs because (a) you do lose that original convo and (b) people are just not bothering to put alt text on their screenshots, which means it's another way of excluding people who use screen readers from the conversation.
