People are the best AND the worst. I also live in a small community, fortunately a very liberal one. I've learned to keep certain opinions to myself, because folks around here fall into warring factions pretty easily. It's not so much over politics or religion, more likely to be about "should that bench be added to the park?" or "your yard is weedy" or "what? you hate my dark sky initiative because you trip in the dark?"
*sigh*
People. Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em.
