I'm proud to be one of the many
New York Times contributors who signed this letter calling for the paper to stop its biased and often downright hateful coverage of trans issues. nytletter.com #transrights

This week's theme is ? As I said with my waffle weave piece, I love fabric that changes dramatically from web-on-the-loom to finished cloth. Lace is a great example of this. I frankly don't remember what this huck project was, but I use the end sample as a challah cover.

Woo hoo! My Majacraft Suzie is on its way! No delivery date yet how long from Buffalo, NY to Carson City, NV? Hoping that I do not have to deal with the infamous "cracked base" issue.

Now to thin the herd and find a good home for my poor, neglected Ashford traddy.

Going to repeat this loudly for the cheap seats: “Messianic Jews” are NOT Jewish. They’re a sect of evangelical Christians. Their writ is deliberately supersessionist, which is to say they’re appropriating Jewish culture and practice for the purpose of trying to ***eliminate*** us. Stop helping them out by giving them any credence whatsoever when they claim Jewishness. Thank you!!

Waffle weave dishcloth Redux. I found my pristine sampleand, even better, the pre-wet finishing sample. I still love live fabrics  - collapse twill, lace, etc. Where the magic really is in the water (aka wet finishing)

I know last week was color week of but I still want to play. A set of 8 tea towels. 8 shaft twill I changed weft pattern and tie-up for each. I'll post individual underneath. Enbiggen for the pattern. These are pre hemming. MO Boudreaux is chief fiber inspector she doesn't mess with my weaving or spinning in process, but has the last say @fiberarts@a.gup.pe @weaving

So, I just ordered a Majacraft Suzie - a beautiful New Zealand spinning wheel. I just realized that this is the first brand new piece of major equipment since 1981. , , @spinning @fiberarts@a.gup.pe

Waffle weave dishcloth. Well used, and very hard to photograph. I love live fabrics - collapse twill, lace, etc. Where the magic really is in the water (aka wet finishing)

This is the kind of librarian I work to be every day. From the Unshelved comic strip.

Dr. Jill Biden has invited a Navaho Veteran RN to the SOTU:

Lynette Bonar (Tuba City, Arizona)
Bonar is an enrolled member of Navajo Nation. She was a sergeant and former medic in the U.S. Army. She spent 19 years providing clinical care as a Registered Nurse and Executive at the Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation, including eight years as Chief Executive Officer.

In 2019, Dr. Biden joined Bonar to celebrate the opening of the Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation’s Specialty Care Center which was the first cancer center opened on a Native American reservation, bringing cancer treatment and other oncology services to the Navajo, Hopi, and San Juan Southern Paiute tribal members who previously had to travel great distances to receive care.

I'm so excited! These were at the clinic administration building. Two elders, Lisa Enos and Melba Rakow, who are fluent in the Wašiw language, retold and translated four of the People's stories. Each illustrated by a different artist also from the tribe. If you enbiggen the last image you will read Washoe is considered a language isolate, and as you can imagine it is hanging on by a thread and supported by efforts to teach to younger members.

Posting this again because this influx is going to happen to Black writers right now. All of a sudden, we will be asked to package our grief and anger and constant dehumanization into content for white attention. But if you noticed us the rest of the time, we wouldn’t need to.

The Black community is collectively traumatized.

Ultimately, the cumulative impact of the death of #TyreNichols – and the other far-too-often news of police killings of unarmed Black people – have measurable health effects. They "shred the social fabric of Black neighborhoods, and drain Black people and their communities of the health and social resources they need to live healthy lives."
